China is influencing and undermining Canada and its democratic system. Canada China relations are tense, following the arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou, and China's hostage diplomacy that targeted two Canadian citizens, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, who have been in Chinese detention for almost two years. China has also sentenced several Canadian citizens to death inside China. But China still is trying to get Canadian officials on its side, called Elite Capture.
